Twenty veterans commit suicide daily, and veterans are twice as likely to die from accidental opioid overdoses as civilians. Studies and veteran experiences demonstrate that cannabis is a life-saving treatment option that can help address many of the debilitating mental and physical wounds veterans battle today, without the negative side-effects of opiates and other prescriptions. Yet, the 9 million+ veterans who receive their healthcare through the Veterans Health Administration are effectively barred from accessing cannabis as a treatment option, even in states where it’s legal. This must change.
